Application for the 2023/2024 Africa Initiative for Governance Scholarships to Study at the University of Oxford

Overview:

The AIG Scholarships were established in 2017 to give an exceptional opportunity for remarkable West Africans interested in a career in public service to study a Master of Public Policy at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government. Every year, the Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) provides five scholarships for excellent people from Nigeria and Ghana to pursue a Master of Public Policy degree at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government (BSG). AIG Scholars will be asked to return to their home country after graduation and use their learning experience to effect change in their nation’s public sector. The scholarship is valued at $50,000 for each recipient.

 

Eligibility: 

The following are key requirements for the AIG Scholarships:

  • Be a Nigerian who is currently employed in the public sector (Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Parastatals) at the Federal or State levels.
  • Aged between 25 and 50 years
  • Have a minimum of seven (7) years (combined private & public sector) work experience
  • Have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second-class upper qualification.

 

How to Apply:

  • Only applications made through the online application site will be taken into account.
  • Due to the large number of applications received, only candidates selected for the next step of the selection process will be notified, and inquiries about individual application status will not be responded to. 
  • Candidates who are chosen as finalists in the selection process must apply for admission directly to the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford. Throughout the application process, candidates will receive complete support. Finalists accepted to the Master of Public Policy program will be considered for the AIG Scholarship.
