Application for the 2023/2024 Chevening Scholarship

Overview:

The Chevening Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship that covers all of the recipient’s educational expenses, including tuition, accommodation, and travel expenses. The Chevening scholarship which is financed by the Foreign Commonwealth, and Development Office and partner organizations, provides awards to outstanding scholars from over 160 countries to study in the United Kingdom for one year on a fully funded master’s degree program. Candidates for the Chevening scholarship must be passionate about the programs or careers they intend to pursue. They must also be capable of leading and motivated to serve society. Applications to the British Chevening Scholarship for the class of 2023 began on August 2, 2022.

Eligibility:

The following are the key requirements of the Chevening Scholarship:

• The candidate must be from a Chevening eligible country. 
• By the time you submit your application, you should have completed all requirements of an undergraduate degree that will allow you to secure admission into a postgraduate study at a UK university. The preferred requirement is often a second-class upper honours degree in the United Kingdom, however, it may vary based on your program and university of choice.
• You must have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience.
• Apply to three different UK university programs. These might be three programs from the same university or three programs from up to three different universities.
• You must have an unconditional admission from at least one of the universities if you progress to the interview stage. A conditional offer can be excepted if only the outstanding condition is financial (i.e the need to pay a deposit for the course)
• When the award period ends, applicants must return to their home countries with the knowledge and resources gained needed to bring their ideas to life and develop in their careers and/or society.

Ineligibility:

• Candidates who have a British or dual British citizenship
• You’ll be ineligible if you have refugee status in a country that is not a Chevening eligible country. Applicants who are citizens of a Chevening-eligible country and have refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country can apply.
• You’ll be ineligible If you have previously studied in the United Kingdom with the sponsorship of a UK Government-funded scholarship.

• If you do not already have an account on the Chevening website, you will have to create one. Click here to create an account.
• Find your home country on the Chevening partner countries list.
• Check if your course is a Chevening-eligible course.
• Fill out the Chevening scholarship application form and attach all relevant documents.
• Submit your application before the deadline.

• Academic Certificate and Transcripts
• Reference Letters
• Admission Letter from at least one of the schools a candidate applied to
• Statement of Purpose
• Copy of International Passport or National Identity Card
• Interview (for shortlisted candidates)
